James Mainwaring is an award winning composer and multi-instrumentalist best known for his saxophone playing in the Mercury Prize Nominated Roller Trio. He also performs solo and is a part-time PhD student at the University of York. 8211; recipient of the Sir Jack Lyons Scholarship. Mainwaring was born in 1989 in Warrington. He sang in rock bands and joined Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra before moving to Leeds to study jazz at Leeds College of Music. And his projects have been funded by PRSF.

Creates an open, living music. They got together in Stratford-upon-Avon on a dark and stormy night in November 2008, and from there have undertaken a Jazz Services national tour; performed at Manchester Jazz Festival; and supported jazz saxophone legend David Murray. How it all works is not always clear; but the process is always fascinating to hear, and the results can be truly moving.
